Now based in New Orleans, Jemison self-published"My South Texas Kitchen: Traditional Recipes and Modern Tips" in early September. The book chronicles favorite family meals she experienced from her birth in McAllen through her preteen years in the San Antonio area, and now enjoys preparing for her husband and two daughters.
"My whole goal was to preserve these recipes for our daughters and I never imagined it would be a published cookbook," Jemison said.Those blog posts led to an opportunity to share her food with the masses through a regional magazine in New Orleans. "I had no technical or professional writing experience at all," she said."I've always had a love of photography but I never had any formal training in that, either."
