New cocktail bar Near Dark by Southtown ready to protect goths from vampires with burgundy walls, a black bar
A ghoulish painting of a stylized vampire hangs on the wall by the front door. Herman Munster glares from a portrait on the back of the room. The walls are painted a deep, bloodlike burgundy, and the eerie, screeching guitar of Bauhaus’s 1980 single “Dark Entries” and other seminal goth rock hits blare over the speakers.
“We’re like a vampire bar. Or, really, more like an anti-vampire bar. Vampires only come out at night, and you’re safe from them here,” co-owner Patrick Partch said of the new watering hole.
