New charges filed alleged Contra Costa serial rapist as seventh woman comes forward
MARTINEZ — Two weeks after a Martinez man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting six women during a five-year span in random attacks around Contra Costa, authorities say they have identified a seventh victim., 39, was charged this week with two new felony counts related to an alleged sexual assault from February 2019 in Martinez.
Police allege that he sought out vulnerable victims, sometimes offering them rides, before sexually assaulting them inside his vehicle. One of the victims was sexually assaulted once when Owens offered her a ride home, but then he allegedly broke into her home the following week and attacked her a second time, according to police.
Prosecutors allege that the attacks happened in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez and unincorporated parts of the county, including the Pacheco area. Police are still investigating whether more victims are out there.
