After one of its biggest deals to date, the streamer is planning to create 'unique universe' from the Willy Wonka creator's beloved stories, which includes the likes of 'Matilda,' 'The Witches,' 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,' 'The BFG' and many more.
In announcing the acquisition, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and Luke Kelly, managing director of the Roald Dahl Story Company, said that they were now eyeing the creation of a “unique universe across animated and live-action films and TV, publishing, games, immersive experiences, live theater, consumer products and more.”when the Ladybird says: ‘We are now about to visit the most marvellous places and see the most wonderful things’,” they said.
Dahl’s books have been translated into 63 languages and sold more than 300 million copies worldwide, with a new book sold every 2.6 seconds.Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
