Murdock said she was in disbelief after Tuesday’s police incident that resulted in Myer falling 30 feet off an overpass.Murdock described her neighbor of about seven years as an amazing officer who is always around to help out.On Tuesday, Myer was trying to use tire spikes near Interstate 80. Police said the suspect, Michael Swickey, instead of driving into the spikes, sped up toward the trooper's vehicle. Officials said Myer lost his balance and fell.
"Whenever you have a person who is fleeing from law enforcement, their focus becomes trying to get away from law enforcement, and we often see it result in tragic outcomes,” said District Attorney Sim Gil.including not stopping for an officer, drug possession, and driving on a denied license. “They're a risk to the community, to people, and to the fact that he hit a police car. It could've been far more serious,” said Gil.
For now, Murdock hopes for a speedy recovery. Troopers said Myer successfully completed his third surgery on Friday with a long road ahead.to help with Myer's recovery.
