The leader of the NDP is urging the provincial government to improve dental care access for seniors in anticipation of the federal dental program expansion later this year.

Jim Dinn says he’s requesting compassion for seniors who suffer from dental pain and are unable to eat or sleep properly. He presented another letter to the minister in the House of Assembly, emphasizing that seniors will face longer wait times for dental care once the federal program expands. Dinn stressed the need for policy change and asked the government to ensure easy, affordable dental care access for low-income seniors until the federal program expansion takes effect.

In recent years, the Adult Dental Program saw budget cuts, and the Department of Health and Community Services left over two million dollars unspent in 2022-2023.
