The NDP say there is not enough money in the provincial budget for education. Leader Marit Stiles says Doug Ford's Conservatives are leaving Ontario schools

Leader Marit Stiles says Doug Ford’s Conservatives are leaving Ontario schools and students high and dry.

“This budget has nothing in it to hire the teachers or education workers that we need in our schools, nothing to reduce class sizes, no plan to repair the growing school back log,” said Stiles.“We’re struggling with a staffing crisis in our school system and we have boards that are going to have to make cuts because this government wouldn’t come up with the funds to help cover the costs of the pandemic,” explained Stiles. “I mean, We should be investing.

The NDP maintain the inadequate funding could lead to potential staff layoffs and reduced supports for students. Stiles also drew attention to the fact the Financial Accountability Office found $600-million in COVID response funds that were not used, which she says, could have helped schools.Ctrl+Enter
