Disney+'s upcoming NationalTreasure show has started filming. Series star Lisette Alexís shared the news along with a few behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram and the caption: 'here we go!!!!!'
National Treasure star Lisette Alexís shares a behind-the-scenes image that confirms the Disney+ series has begun filming. The series is inspired by the 2004 Walt Disney Pictures action-adventure movie starring Nicholas Cage. The film saw Cage's historian Ben Gates hunt down a treasure via clues hidden across historic American monuments.
In National Treasure, Ben Gates is inspired in his childhood by tales of a fortune hidden in North America by various secret societies told by his grandfather, John . Despite his father Patrick's skepticism, Ben discovers that his grandfather's tales are true, leading to him teaming up with computer expert Riley and archivist Dr. Abigail Chae to find clues hidden across American artifacts and monuments in a race against Sean Bean's rival treasure hunter Ian Howe to claim the prize.
Details on the National Treasure show were released in January, offering information on the series' plot and Alexís character, Jess. Jess is described as a resourceful mystery-loving DREAMer who is joined by social media personality Tasha , FBI Agent Ross , a long-time friend and admirer Ethan , theorist Oren , and musician/descendent of a line of treasure hunters Liam .
With sets for the National Treasure show being assembled and Alexís confirming that filming has begun, audiences can look forward to Disney's return to their memorable 2000's adventure series. While fans may be somewhat disappointed that the series appears to lack the involvement of Cage, the Disney+ series seeks to open up the franchise to a new generation.
