House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited protesters outside the US Capitol to show solidarity with demonstrations following the death of George Floyd while in police custody
Pelosi, wearing a mask, was mostly greeted by applause, but there were some hecklers. In a brief interview with CNN, Pelosi praised the move by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on Wednesday to upgrade the charge against former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin, who had his knee pressed into Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes. Chauvin is now facing a charge of second-degree murder and the other three officers who were at the scene are also facing criminal charges.
