JOHN'S, N.L. — It was an overwhelming but unsurprising situation, founder and managing director of theThe JPMF was founded in honour of Kelsey’s brother, Jake, who died by suicide in 2016. The foundation's mandate is to provide free mental-health resources to youth between the ages of 12 and 35.

“It also speaks to the fact that what we do with JPMF is different than other organizations and it matters.” During that same period, wait times for Priority 1 ranged from zero days to a month. Priority 2 ranged from approximately two months to just under two years. Priority 3 ranged from approximately three months to half a year.

“I know what the need of our province looks like because I have been deeply in it for five years and I have not been shying away from the very raw truth of the fact that youth are not getting the care that they need in our province.”“But of course, that comes with a whole bunch for youth needing our services as well,” Kelsey said. “We're always hoping to expand. Our team has grown by about 300 per cent in the last year and a half. We're a team of 10 these days.
