Trooper Marcellus E. Bethea, assigned to the Moorestown Station in Burlington County, was a trooper for over eight years, the agencyState Police officials did not give any details about what training Bethea was undergoing, how he died or the time of the incident. An investigation of Bethea’s death was ongoing Sunday night, officials said.
“He embodied Honor, Duty, and Fidelity in its highest form every day and in everything he did,” Murphy said. The State Police headquarters is located on a campus containing several buildings and facilities off River Road in Ewing’s West Trenton neighborhood. Tammy and I are deeply saddened by the passing of New Jersey State Trooper Marcellus Bethea, who died during training at NJSP Headquarters in Ewing.
