Cooper Raiff directs the film and stars alongside Dakota Johnson.
“‘Cha Cha’ for me is about two soulmates helping each other get strong for different stages in their life,” Raiff said in a behind-the-scenes Sundance video. “I wanted to say something about what your 20s should be for — and I have no idea what it should be for — but I wanted to write a character who was really into starting other people’s parties, but your 20s are kind of the time where you need to start your own party.”” in 2020.
“The way he studies people — and absorbs people — and is able to write them is really special,” Johnson said at a Q&A for the premiere. “These relationships are special…and they’re not common on screen but they’re common in life and it’s important they’re on screen.”
