New Jersey’s seven-day average for confirmed positive coronavirus tests dropped Friday to 1,658, down 16% from a week ago and 89% from a month ago

New Jersey has now reported 32,647 deaths — 29,698 confirmed deaths and 2,949 probable deaths — in the more than 23 months since the pandemic began here.in the U.S. — behind Mississippi and Arizona — as of the latest data reported Monday.total confirmed cases out of 17.3 million PCR tests conducted since the state’s first case was announced on March 4, 2020. The state has also reported 292,764 positive antigen or rapid tests, which are considered probable cases.

For the four-week span from Jan. 9 to Feb. 5, New Jersey reported 199,298 total COVID-19 cases, leading to 3,977 hospitalizations, and 747 deaths. Among the 2.89 million people who received booster shots on top of their initial vaccine course, there were 24,723 breakthrough cases that led to 500 hospitalizations and 101 deaths.For the week ending Feb. 6, with around 65% of schools reporting data, another 4,946 COVID-19 cases were reported among staff and students across New Jersey’s schools.
