N.J. reports 1,009 new COVID cases, 10 deaths; transmission rate inches higher

The state’s seven-day average for confirmed positive tests is 1,060 — down 11% from a week ago and down 43% from a month ago.

: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem. Seven counties — Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset and Union — have “low” community levels.

There were 1,038 patients with confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases reported across 69 of the state’s 70 hospitals Monday night. Of those hospitalized, 136 are in intensive care and 53 are on ventilators. The Garden State has also recorded 492,933 positive antigen or rapid tests, which are considered probable cases. There are also numerous cases that were likely never counted, including at-home positive tests that are not included in the state’s numbers.
