An Essex County man was convicted Thursday of various sex-related crimes committed against three children in Clifton, officials said.Passaic County Prosecutor’s OfficeDetectives from the office interviewed the child and several witnesses and learned there were two additional victims, investigators said.
The newly-discovered victims told detectives that they were sexually abused by Raelito Palao, 62, of Belleville, several times between September 2005 and August 2007 and between June 2012 and June 2013 at various places throughout Clifton, authorities said. On Thursday, a jury found Palao guilty of sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual contact and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, the office said. He was ordered to be held in jail until his sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 5.
