A post-credits scene teased the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' iconic villain Shredder, setting up a showdown in the sequel.
In a 2015 IDW comics storyline, Shredder orders Bebop and Rocksteady to attack a vulnerable Donatello. A brief but violent fight ensues and in the end, Donatello is killed when Rocksteady smashes the hero's shell with a sledgehammer. Splinter and the other turtles are understandably devastated when they return home and discover Donatello's death.
