First Act was a bit of tempest in a teapot … or, at least, it was a carefully laid trap from Government House Leader Jeremy Harrison into which the NDP awkwardly bumbled.
While not always, oppositions often quietly , grudgingly provide verbal second-reading support on bills they oppose just to move them forward to debate. That Harrison called for a recorded vote should have tipped off NDP members that they were heading toward a problem … although the bigger problem may be Beck’s wishy-washy, appease-everyone-at-all-times approach.that remain unhappy that the NDP leadership didn’t produce what they hoped it would.
Saskatchewan First Act than it may not be as consequential as Justice Minister Bronwyn Eyre purports it be.Equally unhelpful was NDP reluctance to put Beck out to respond to such controversial criticism. If you are an opposition leader demanding immediate accountability from government, you don’t get away with ducking accountability yourself.
But when it comes to avoiding forthright assessments for fear of offending your own radical elements, Moe has little room for criticism.Article content
