The driver was pulled over near Coppull
A motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after nearly crashing into a Lancashire police patrol vehicle in the early hours of Friday morning.
Officers requested that the driver stop their car and pull over when the incident happened in Coppull, south of Chorley, but they failed to do so and drove off, so the patrol car went off in pursuit.Shortly afterwards, the vehicle pulled onto a driveway, where officers detained the driver. They were given a breathalyser test and found to be over the drink-drive limit.
The motorist gave two breath specimens and was found to have between 57mg and 59mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, with the legal limit being 35. Lancs Road Police tweeted: "#HO31 were on patrol in Coppull when a vehicle pulled out in front of them almost causing collision. "Vehicle was requested to stop, but failed to do so and a short pursuit commenced. Driver was detained as they pulled onto a driveway. Driver was over drink drive limit. #T1TacOps."
