MoonKnight cinematographer Gregory Middleton explains how he collaborated with Oscar Isaac and used the camera to emphasize Steven Grant's disorientation in our recent interview:

Cinematographer Gregory Middleton is the perfect man to bring Marvel's Moon Knight to life. An experienced DP, Middleton has won acclaim for his work on Game of Thrones and Watchmen. But Moon Knight is a superhero show unlike anything even he's done before, largely because its superhero is diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. This means star Oscar Isaac essentially has to play multiple characters, and the show's cinematography faced unique challenges as well.

Gregory Middleton: Even though these are all genre pieces, they're all intimately about people. That's the thing that interests me the most, the stories that are about understanding people; that's my favorite drama. But the one thing about what we picked [is that] in certain scenes, such as when he's in the horse-ring in episode 3, he could look quite right. In the dark, he's got enough gray that he can sink in; he doesn't stick out. A pure white sheet of paper in a dark room looks strange; you don't see the texture on it, and you can't tell it's a real thing. I think the costume design found a sweet-spot where we could make him a little white; a little mysterious.

Screen Rant: Moon Knight may have been the first TV show I've watched where Egypt has felt like a modern location, rather than an ancient one. Gregory Middleton: You're speaking of the blinks, where Steven blacks out and wakes up. The idea is the audience would experience the disorientation that Steven has; the more disoriented he is, you want the audience to experience.
