Duncan McIntyre, chief executive at Highland, said the company has been in constant contact with Montgomery County schools and its contract with the district has been amended to accommodate later deadlines. Whilealso pointed to supply-chain disruptions and manufacturing delaysdisputed the inspector general’s finding that Highland delivered buses late and said the vehicles were delivered within a grace period outlined in its contract of “multiple months.
“Moving forward, we will be working diligently to refine our contract strategies and internal controls based on their recommendations,” López said.in the state. The measure also requires school buses purchased in fiscal 2025 to run exclusively on electric power — although the state is offering waivers to this requirement.
