Rochester, N.Y. — Affordable housing has been a crisis for many, especially amid high inflation, and local leaders are working to address the issue. Tuesday, Monroe County teamed up with housing advocates to roll out new plans — totaling $7.8 million — to not only address the crisis, but help those who struggle to find reasonably priced homes."The shortage of affordable housing requires new thinking and strategic investments," said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. "The four new pilot initiatives I'm announcing today will create affordable housing options for low and moderate-income families.
Those initiatives will help landlords update unrented units to bring them back into the market and will support housing seekers, landlords and tenants during the rental process.: Housing search navigators and after care case managers will connect up to 720 low- and moderate-income clients or voucher holders to quality and affordable housing.
