Activision claims Modern Warfare 2 enjoyed the Call of Duty franchise’s biggest launch ever, generating $800 million in sales in three days
That’s according to publisher, which claimed on Monday that the game topped $800 million in sales in its first three days of availability.
In doing so, it surpassed the previous five-day franchise sales record, set in 2011 by Modern Warfare 3.Activision claimed the game’s blockbuster launch was the highest grossing entertainment opening of the year, topping the combined worldwide box office openings of Top Gun: Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The game also set new franchise records for the number of unique players and hours played through its first three days for a premium Call of Duty game.
