“This place felt like a torture chamber,” Mark said in her speech. “I will not miss the character assassination,” although she did not specify who directed those attacks.Article contentMark, a single mother who is Nisga’a, Gitxsan, Cree and Ojibway, also revealed she has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. She said she wants to focus on raising her “baby eagles”, her two daughters, Makayla, 12, and Maya, 19.
Mark has been sitting in the caucus backbench since September when she stepped down as tourism minister. At the time, she said she needed to focus on “urgent personal matters.” As tourism minister she faced criticism for the now-scrapped $800Advertisement 4Public backlash forced former premier John Horgan to announce the government was reversing course.Mark has been open about her difficult childhood which was marred by sexual abuse, an alcoholic mother and a father who deserted their family.
