Tracy Fleury takes a shot as her brother Jacob sweeps at the Canadian mixed doubles curling championship.“I would love to see it picked up on national networks,” Weagle said. “When we were in the bubble in 2021, the mixed doubles nationals were on TSN and our TV numbers were really good. I think it’s one of those things where, if you make it available, people are going to watch, and get engaged.”

Curling Canada would love to have the games shown on mainstream TV — it has an extensive contract with TSN for events like the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Tim Hortons Brier and world curling championships — but there’s hope that streaming is the next best thing. “Everybody loves to still be on TSN or linear coverage, so that would be a goal, but whether we get there or not, we want to keep expanding it through streaming. It’s probably better off to be able to show more and more coverage through streaming than it is to worry about an investment and get one game at a time on TSN.”Article contentThiessen’s words won’t be music to the ears of the curlers, who are doing what they can to grow the game.

As you can see, there’s a bit of a difference between what Muyres wants to see and what Curling Canada is expecting.
