With cease-fire talks in Cairo ongoing, Hamas said it has presented its stance and “the ball is now in the enemy’s court,” referring to Israel.
The latest round of talks on a deal that would pause fighting and release Hamas-held hostages for Israeli-held Palestinian prisoners remains underway in Cairo, though a deal does not appear imminent.
” A former Egyptian official familiar with the talks, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, told The Post on Tuesday that he “expects” that an agreement could be reached by the end of the week. “There is also Egyptian pressure” to reach an agreement, he said, because a cease-fire would bring an end to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and allow people in Rafah to move north and away from the Egyptian border.
