Micron has announced the 2400 SSD, the world’s 2TB 22x30mm SSD, which could potentially signal the arrival of a budget HDD killer.
Micron has announced the 2400 SSD, the world’s first 176-layer PCIe Gen4 QLC SSD and the first 2TB 22x30mm SSD.
By combining 176-layer NAND and PCIe Gen4 technologies, the 2400 SSD is capable of doubling the performance of Micron’s previous-generation client SSD. It’ll also feature 23% faster read time for accelerated boot and load times. Hard drives have historically offered larger storage space solutions, but with the advancement of SSD technologies, we’re starting to see equally huge storage spaces being offered by SSDs.
The M.2 22x30mm 2400 will launch with three variants that offer different capacity options: 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. Larger 22x42mm and 22x80mm models will also be available for the SSD. All 2TB versions will sport 4,500MBps of sequential read and 4,000MBps of sequential write speeds.
