Two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine has announced he is retiring from acting following his work on the recently released Second World War drama,Caine said the fact that he got to play the lead in the film that received accolades from critics after its release in Britain earlier this month led to his decision.
“I’ve figured, I’ve had a picture where I’ve played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews,” Caine said. “The only parts I’m likely to get now are old men, 90-year-old men, maybe 85. And I thought, ‘Well, I might as well leave with all this — I’ve got wonderful reviews. “I had a period where I thought I’d been retired. I was sent this script by a producer. And I sent it back with a message saying, ‘The part is too small.’ And he sent it back saying, ‘I didn’t want you to read the lover.
