Micah Awe having no problem filling big shoes left by past Stampeders middle linebackers CFL
“As soon as I signed, I watched all the games,” Awe said. “From the first pre-season game all the way to the last playoff game against , I watched how Thurman did it. I even went back and watched three games into Singleton’s defensive-player-of-the-year season because it’s a similar defence, so it’s good to be able to look at that. “He had a big game,” Stamps GM/head coach Dave Dickenson said. “I really felt like it was one of those hat-tricks — a trifecta. If you can get all three, obviously that doesn’t happen very often. For us, he was one of our players of the game.” It’s a combination of a lot of things. Dickenson explained that the Stamps’ defensive system uses its d-line in a way that often frees up linebackers to run to the ball and make tackles.
