Otis quickly strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane as it approached the country’s Pacific coast
MEXICO CITY—Residents in Mexico’s southern state of Guerrero prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Otis, a Category 5 storm that was approaching the Pacific port and popular beach resort of Acapulco with 160 mile-per-hour winds late Tuesday.
Authorities urged people living near rivers or ravines to evacuate shelters.
