The fiery Jeff McNeil was not happy with this punchout by umpire Adam Beck.
McNeil was right to be upset, though, as the pitch missed the plate low by at least two inches and halted a potential Mets rally.Last week, the umpire ejected Brewers manager Craig Counsell and shortstop Willy Adames after they were upset he didn’t grant time to Adames and then called an automatic strike due to a pitch clock violation.
Jeff McNeil was halfway down the first baseline when he realized that the umpire called this pitch a strike.Counsell was quickly ejected, followed by Adames after he struck out in the at-bat.“Willy stepped out on that pitch and Adam suggested that he didn’t call timeout. I kind of got that,” Counsell said.
