Smith advised drivers and pedestrians heading out on the road Wednesday morning to watch for icy conditions. With temperatures overnight plunging below zero, much of the slush and melting snow are likely to freeze, leading to slippery roads and sidewalks. Tuesday’s late-season snowstorm also caused flight and ferry cancellations, traffic delays and school closures, prompting warnings from authorities against non-essential travel.
