The data center is expected to bring 300 jobs to north Alabama with Meta investing $1.5 billion in the project at North Huntsville Industrial Park.
Dec. 16, 2022, 7:25 p.m.Rendering released June 9, 2022, of the fully built-out Meta Data Center in Huntsville. Construction has temporarily halted on part of the $1.5 billion data center Meta is building in Huntsville as the company formerly known as Facebook redesigns a section of the project.
“In order to best serve our needs for the future, we have decided to change the design of a portion of our Huntsville Data Center which will result in a temporary construction pause of a portion of the project while we update our design,” Meta said in a statement. “We remain committed to this community, our local stakeholders, and our supply chain partners,” the statement continued. “We will work closely with our stakeholders to transition this project design as efficiently as possible.”$1.5 billion in the projectInitial plans for the project consisted of two buildings in 2018, but the development has since expanded to seven buildings and 3.5 million square feet.
