Weather warnings are in place for parts of the UK
The Met Office has provided the latest weather outlook for Nottingham as parts of the UK brace for what could be the coldest temperatures of the year. The forecaster said temperatures could drop below -10C on Monday night on higher ground in northern Scotland, with northerly winds making it feel even colder.
The wintry conditions could lead to up to 10cm of snow on higher ground in Scotland and 5cm at lower levels. Meanwhile, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow in the northeast of Scotland, including Shetland. However, conditions in Nottingham are expected to be much milder, with temperatures expected to reach 7C on Monday, March 6.
But temperatures are predicted to dip below freezing in the early hours of Wednesday, hitting as low as -3c from 3am to 6am. The Met Office outlook for the East Midlands for the latter part of the week reads: "Very cold, with severe frosts overnight. Wednesday largely dry with bright or sunny spells at first, then increasingly cloudy, with periods of rain and snow possible Thursday and Friday.
"If you have a pre-existing medical condition or are over the age of 65, it is important to try and heat your home to at least 18C if you can."
