Mercedes Formula One boss Toto Wolff is to meet survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire after apologising on behalf of his team on Friday for any distress caused by a sponsorship deal with a company linked to the 2017 disaster.
The deal with Kingspan, an Irish company that produces high-performance insulation and cladding products including some used on the West London tower block, was announced this week.
"I would like to thank Grenfell United for the offer to meet in person for me to learn and understand better. I look forward to coming together as soon as we can." "I will be writing to Mercedes to ask them to reconsider. The Grenfell community deserves better," he said. Kingspan said in a statement it had no role in the design of the cladding system on Grenfell Tower, where its K15 product constituted approximately 5% of the insulation.
