, Mendicino’s political staff were informed in early March about the potential transfer, and then again on May 25 by the Correctional Service of Canada. However, his staff waited until May 30, the day after Bernardo was transferred, to tell him about the change.
When asked repeatedly whether he had fired staff who kept him in the dark, Mendicino declined to answer.Mendicino said he is focused on improving the process and ensuring families are better informed.
