ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Memorial University’s Student Union wants Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey and other provincial and university leaders to explain the $13.6 million cut to the tuition offset grant revealed in Budget 2024.
“These massive cuts to post-secondary funding pushed the University to skyrocket tuition for prospective students,” the union wrote. “This unexpected increase has blindsided young people who had planned to attend Memorial and budgeted according to the 22-year tuition freeze.”BUDGET 2024: Record health-care spending pushes net debt to $17.8 billion in Newfoundland and Labrador
