Following the news that Loki and Doctor Strange 2 writer Michael Waldron will pen AvengersSecretWars, Marvel fans are divided on social media.
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are divided on the screenwriter choice for Avengers: Secret Wars. While a director hasn't currently been announced, it was recently revealed that Michael Waldron will be writing the screenplay for the highly anticipated crossover event, which will be the sixth installment in the Avengers series.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Waldron has already established himself as a significant force in the MCU, having developed the Disney+ series Loki. That show featured the introduction of Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, a variant of the MCU's next big villain, Kang the Conqueror. Loki's last episode put the events of The Multiverse Saga in motion. Waldron also wrote the screenplay for this year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after Sam Raimi boarded the project.
Why MCU Fans Are Mixed On Michael Waldron While Loki was well-received by critics and fans, some viewers expressed their disappointment at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Many were disappointed in the handling of Wanda Maximoff's arc, as she went from misunderstood hero in WandaVision to the main antagonist of the movie.
Regardless of what fans think of Waldron's handling of many characters in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he has now been given free rein to craft the MCU's most ambitious crossover event yet. No one knows what Avengers: Secret Wars will be about, but it will certainly be interesting to see what Waldron does with the material once The Multiverse Saga's overarching story becomes clearer. Perhaps he will prove all the naysayers wrong in the end.
