Police Chief Williams long has expressed frustration with street racers. He took to Twitter over the weekend to say SAPD would show them no quarter.
Street racers in Austin shut down the intersection of Barton Springs Road and South Lamar Boulevard in February. Similar street takeovers in San Antonio have prompted Police Chief William McManus to speak out against racers.over the weekend to condemn street racers as"foolish" and"dangerous," and to warn that SAPD would show them no quarter.
McManus said street racers took over a street Saturday night and were met with a vigorous police response. "We arrested them, impounded their cars, issued citations, and seized weapons they were illegally carrying," the chief said on Twitter."If you choose to come back, we’ll be waiting."
