House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., ripped President Biden's budget proposal, calling the president's proposed $2 trillion in tax hikes 'completely unserious.'

Seen as a preview to his re-election platform, Biden's proposed budget is projected to cut the deficit by $3 trillion over the next 10 years. It remains unlikely the plan will find any support in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
A join statement released by House GOP leaders on Thursday that slammed Biden's budget echoed points he had made. "We must cut wasteful government spending. Our debt is one of the greatest threats to America and the time to address this crisis is now," their statement read."Yet, President Biden is proposing out of control spending and delaying debt negotiations, following his pattern of shrugging and ignoring when faced with a crisis."
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., praised Biden's budget for"presenting a realistic blueprint for lowering the deficit without cutting benefits Ameriacns rely on." "Speaker McCarthy—Come clean and spell out what cuts you're planning and how it will put pain on families," Schumer said.
