Matty Healy: Yes, exactly. I think that the solitary element of The 1975 comes from a place of like, self-protection, to be honest with you. We've been a band since we were 13, we're not like, pop songwriters who go into a room with loads of people and are like"Try this, do that, fucking, hey how are you doing? That didn't work, let's move into the next one." We're not like that.
and how big of a moment it was for us. When all that happens, it makes you feel quite small. I think that we were a bit like, let's just run with that. Let's go back to being teenagers and making music that we want to make and really look at what our DNA is musically.
