The special flight commemorates 100 years of air refueling
The 193rd Special Operations Wing from Lower Swatara Township is partnering with the 171st Aerial Refueling Wing from Coraopolis, Allegheny County, for a special flight. On Tuesday, the military will commemorate 100 years of air refueling.
“Air refueling – or aerial refueling – was first demonstrated June 27, 1923, by the U.S. Army Air Service when a De Haviland DH-4B passed 75 gallons of gasoline through a hose to another DH-4B flying beneath it,” the United State Air Force, said in a news release.
