Washington GovInslee and State Superintendent Chris Reykdal announced that students and teachers will no longer be required to wear face masks come March 21.
The announcement Thursday comes as one school district was closed for two days after its board voted to scrap the mask requirement in violation of the state’s mandate.“This is a big moment,” Reykdal said during a press conference. “It means we have a little bit more flexibility now to take that next step.”
Last week, Reykdal called on Inslee to remove the mask mandate for schools. His request came amid two school districts scrapping their mask requirements.
