'Avengers: Endgame's' blockbuster showing bodes well for Disney+:
$1.2 billion worldwide in its theatrical opening weekend, per Variety. North America and China brought in most of that money, commanding $350 million and $330.5 million, respectively.

The film's blockbuster showing bodes well for Disney+. The ability of"Endgame" to draw such massive numbers was years in the making, thanks to Disney's years-long investment in franchises coming out of its series of studio acquisitions under CEO Bob Iger, including Pixar , Marvel , and Lucasfilm . Those same franchises are expected to drive interest in Disney's forthcoming SVOD service, Disney+, which is set to launch on November 12 and which will become the home of all Marvel content, as well as other key Disney-owned franchises. Disney is doubling down on franchise content for the platform, including by developing original TV spinoffs based on the Avengers and the Star Wars universes.
The Disney+ value prop will be in gathering content from across each of its franchise brands: Even if Disney+ captures only a fraction of the respective fan bases across its array of franchises, the service is likely to achieve meaningful sub growth.1.
