If there's one thing quarantine has demanded of the music world, it's been creative ways for artists to reach their fans., who last week delivered a 70-minute set from the back of a moving boat while it cruised through the picturesque waterways of The Netherlands at dusk.
The event was less a stunt than a full blown concert, with Garrix's boat being tailed by a number of other watercrafts. The armada was also followed by a drone and helicopter, which are presumably responsible for all of the incredible footage of this most unique feat. The set includes loads of Garrix's own music along with Avicii's"Waiting For Love," Steve Aoki & Felix Jaehn's"Inside Out" and other big time EDM hits. The absence of screaming fans, flashing lights and blasting pyro didn't seem to be a problem for Garrix, who turned 24 on May 14, as the producer appeared fully hyped while passing by rolling farmland.
But are there special effects? You're darn right there are. Watch to the end to see an unidentified figure get launched into the air by jet propulsion, with flairs blazing in his hands. Even more impressive is that Garrix and crew don't get within six feet of each other for the entirety of the performance, proving that live shows are possible during quarantine, particularly when you have access to a small yacht and state of the art video equipment.
