The latest wireless speakers from Marshall is the Middleton. This powerful mid-sized Bluetooth speaker is both waterproof and dustproof. With 20 hours battery life, the Middleton can party on until dawn.
On top of the Marshall Middleton is the usual large brass controller used on all Marshall speakers. The controller works like a joystick and features a surface of ridged, concentric rings that provide a firm grip for a fingertip. The button functions as a power switch, volume adjustment, and control for the music, enabling the user to skip, repeat, pause, and play tracks.
To the left of that large brass control button are two small buttons. One puts the speaker into Bluetooth pairing mode while the other illuminates the ladder-style LED battery gauge divided into ten red segments. On the right of the brass multifunction button are two controls for adjusting the bass and treble frequencies so the listener can get just the sound they like....
The four speakers inside the Middleton are equipped with “True Stereophonic” – Marshall’s unique form of multi-directional stereo sound. The effect creates a spatial and binaural sound that flows around the listener and can fill a vast space with music. Marshall claims it offers absolute 360° sound, where every spot is sweet. That’s no idle claim. The sound produced by the Middleton is awe-inspiring.
As well as the physical bass and treble controls on the top of the speaker cabinet, the Middleton can be tweaked using the Marshall smartphone app, which is available for iOS and Android devices. The app has a built-in Dynamic Loudness function that can adjust the speaker's tonal balance to ensure music sounds its best no matter what level the volume control is set at.... [+]This new speaker is rugged enough to be used almost anywhere.
The sound from the Middleton is big and bold. The speaker output is aimed front and back, as well as left and right from the ends of the case. It gives the impression of surround sound and enough power to fill a medium-sized room. And if the sound isn’t loud enough, the Middleton can be out into Stack Mode by pressing the Bluetooth pairing button three times. Stack Mode enables two or more Middleton speakers to play in concert, producing even more noise.
