Maria Reeve, executive editor of the Houston Chronicle, to take on new statewide role at Hearst Texas

Maria Douglas Reeve, executive editor of the Houston Chronicle, is set to become the vice president-editor for content initiatives for Hearst Texas, the Chronicle said Monday.

"At Hearst, we believe we can be even more ambitious with our journalism," said Nancy Meyer, president and publisher of the Houston Chronicle."Topics like energy and the importance of education are vital for our readers, and more opportunities to advance this type of journalism are important from a mission perspective, as well as with a view toward audience growth and engagement.

Originally from Charleston, S.C., Reeve is an alumna of Davidson College and the University of Maryland, where last year she was inducted into the Philip Merrill College of Journalism's Hall of Fame.
