Maren Morris is done talking about Brittany Aldean feud, but others aren't
Maren Morris no longer comments on her public dust-up with conservative social media influencer Brittany Aldean.
After Aldean, the wife of bro country music star Jason Aldean, posted a transphobic comment to Instagram, Morris weighed in on Twitter. "It's so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie," she wrote in reply to a Tweet country singer Cassadee Pope posted in response to Brittany Aldean's original comment.“I’ve said everything I want to say on that topic,” Morris said with a sigh and quiet chuckle inThe social media spat went down in August, but the controversy still bubbles up, as they seem to do in this media age.
Country music industry veteran Holly Gleason laments that serious dialogue about LGBTQ issues is often a casualty in such public arguments and reduced to a simply red vs. blue mentality. “The reality now seems to be sniping instead of unpacking the issues,” said Gleason, a respected music journalist and public relations insider, who has long reported on the Nashville scene. Her award-winning collection of women’s essays, “Woman Walk the Line: How the Women of Country Music Changed Our Lives” delved into issues of empowerment, artistry and inclusion."But somehow it was delivered like one more mean girl on the playground,” she added.
