'The Brady Bunch' is getting pulled into the anti-vaxx movement, and the actress who played Marcia is not happy about it
“If you have to get sick, sure can’t beat the measles,” Marcia Brady told her siblings in a 1969 episode of “The Brady Bunch.”
A vocal group critical of vaccines, including how those shots are mixed and what side effects they may induce, often uses a now-50-year-old “Brady Bunch” episode as part of their campaign. The mainstream medical field largely says misinformation and some anti-vaxx celebrity power raises U.S. epidemic risks to a level not seen in 25 years.
Elena Conis, an associate professor at the University of California, Berkeley, who specializes in medical history, explained to National Public Radio that circumstances in 2019 are vastly different now from the “Brady Bunch” years.
