Government needs to de-stigmatize COVID-19, rather than downplaying the severity of this fifth wave as it's been doing for two months now.
Asked repeatedly if he was in COVID-19 protocol, Saskatchewan’s health minister refused to say one way or the other. This is fair. All ministers and MLAs have the same work rights and obligations as anyone else, which means the right and social responsibility to stay home when they are ill or have other legitimate reasons to do so.
There is surely less COVID-19 stigma than there was a year or two ago, as was evident by Premier Scott Moe, Speaker Randy Weekes and others simply announcing they caught the virus and wouldn’t be at work. But if there is any question whether or not someone has COVID-19 — and especially if that person is a public figure in constant contact with the masses — shouldn’t they just give us a yes or no ?
Clearly, the government needs to de-stigmatize COVID-19, rather than downplaying the severity as it’s been doing for two months now.who told us the province is stuck in a plateau.
