A man who carjacked a woman and breached a gate at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport was charged Monday with damaging its main radar antenna tower, which prompted the temporary shutdown of the airport on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

In an affidavit, FBI agent Patrick Lentz said Woolley damaged the airport’s main radar antenna tower when he drove the stolen SUV into the facility and wrecked the vehicle. Authorities said a back-up radar system was activated successfully after Woolley disabled the primary system, which remained inactive through Thanksgiving.
